We want you to be able to maintain this holiday season, not gain! There will be parties, celebrations, food and champagne.
Ahhhh….that irresistible succulent Thanksgiving turkey and mashed potatoes . The endless desserts. That mouthwatering New Year buffet and the countdown champagne are so tempting. Its instantly satisfying! So you binge.
So what is the price you pay for your holiday binge? Well, for many it’s stepping onto the bathroom scale and horror of horrors, you have gained a few pounds!! Aaaaaaaaarrrrgghhh!! You pulled your hair and rolled your eyes probably too many times to remember wondering how exactly you got here. You probably have even contemplated working with a personal trainer to put you on a weight loss program. With a little thought and planning, you can avoid holiday weight gain all together.
So instead of wishing for a different turn out this holiday season, we are giving you a game plan that you can take ACTION on today and be successful throughout the end of the year!
Remind yourself that the holiday season is really just a few isolated days. Just because they are close to one and other does not mean
they are connected and you need to fall off your nutrition plan or give up on exercise during this time of year.
Tip: Don’t let the binge go into a week or more by taking home all the leftovers or storing more sweets and pastries than you need for that particular holiday. Do your best to leave any slip ups at that one meal. Just because you indulged once does not mean the rest of the day, week or month is shot. It is usually what people find in the fridge and on the kitchen shelf after the holiday that packs the pounds on. Prep the fridge with healthy nutritious meals so you have something to look forward to and feel great throughout the holiday season.
Step 2: Turn off your TV and all other electronics
Instead of watching all those holiday special programs on your TV, get moving! Instead of watching a football game on TV or scrolling through social media, go outside and toss a ball around, go for a walk with your friends and family or heck if watching is a must like it is in my house stand and move around. If it is too cold out, be innovative, think of some indoor activities or exercises you can do. Maybe get a hard metabolic workout in the day before the holiday or morning of to enjoy the benefits of the afterburn effect. While others gain weight, you may even lose weight.
Step 3: Avoid Alcohol To Prevent Weight Gain
high-calorie mixed drinks like cocktails that are full of sugar or beer which are high in carbohydrates which translate into even more calories. You will definitely need to be on a weight loss program if you indulge in too much alcohol.
Step 4: Drink Plenty Of Water
that you will not over eat resulting in gaining weight.
Step 5: Skip Dessert To Lose Weight
If you can keep to these tips and strategies this coming holiday season, then you will keep the weight gain monster at bay and may not need to set a resolution of holiday weight loss this year, maybe it will just be to improve your health by continuing to exercise and eat right? A more obtainable goal.
